Tomorrow Towers was a project run from Perrott’s Folly and asked the local community to help us re-imagine a future use for the building. The project received funding from Birmingham City Council’s ‘Culture on Your Doorstep Programme (small grants) which sought to bring specialist arts activities to communities that experienced barriers of access to city-centre cultural resources.
We were able to grow the project through collaboration with Birmigham Co-Lab Project (Birmingham Institute of Art and Design Architecture Department) and sponsorship from Ibstock Bricks. The launch of the project saw the co-design of an 8ft Octagon mobile exhibition space filled with designs and ideas conceived by over 100 visitors.
We teamed up with the Birmingham City Park Rangers Department and the Karis Neighbour Scheme who were not only incredibly generous with their resources, but also signposted those isolated and experiencing difficult circumstances in the local community to us. Many of these are now helping us co-design the forward activity programme, which is fabulous.
